Andhra Pradesh Private Hospitals & Nursing Homes Associations (APNA), the apex body in the state for smaller hospitals and nursing homes celebrated Doctors Day on Sunday July 9 at Hotel Katriya. A book titled “Life Savers – from the diary of a medical journalist” – a tribute to doctors who dedicate their lives to the world of medicine penned by Madhavi Siddam was also released on the occasion.
Organised by APNA Greater Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy District Branch the Doctors Day Celebrations were graced by Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, Minister for Major Industries, Sugar, Commerce and Export Promotion, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh; Sri Kondru Murali garu, Minister for Medical Education, APVVP & Hospital Services, Health, Family Welfare, Arogyasree, Health Insurance, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Padmabhushan Dr. Chiranjeevi, Member of Parliament.
Speaking on the occasion Kondru Murali said Rs 1350 crore is spent on Arogya Sree in the state every year. “Hyderabad has become a medical hub because of doctors,” said Dr. Chiranjeevi. And added that health awareness is most important, how it had saved lives of couple of his friends. “Prevention is better than cure,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhavi Siddam, author of the book said, “Life Savers – from the diary of a medical journalist” is a tribute to doctors who dedicate their lives to the world of medicine. This book is a comprehension of the lives of top doctors, having insight to their childhood, education, struggles they faced to establish in the field, their professional specialties, and their achievements with interesting anecdotes to give message to the society. “With so many years of experience in Medical Journalism, I want to give something back to society in the form of a book, she said.
The book features Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao, Dr. G.N. Rao,Dr. B. Somaraju, Dr. K. Ravindranth, Dr. Nageshwar Reddy, Dr. Mannam Gopichand, Dr. Kasu Prasad Reddy, Dr. Gurava Reddy, Ch. Mohan Vamsy, Dr. AG Gokhale and others. The book is being published in English with a motto to reach as many as possible and is targeted at Top Doctors, budding doctors, medicos anyone who is interested in reading success stories.
