With more than 3000 participants from some of the biggest Corporate Houses running at PUMA Urban Stampede last year – the popular race will now travel to 8 cities for the 2014-15 season. PUMA Urban Stampede Powered By Flipkart is a relay race where 4 member teams vie for the title of the fastest team in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed categories.
Started in Bangalore in 2008, PUMA Urban Stampede Powered By Flipkart has enjoyed unprecedented growth – prompting Runners for Life and PUMA to take it to other cities. Flipkart has also come on board as an Associate Sponsor – thereby increasing the scale and reach of the event. This year – the event will travel to Pune, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Chennai in addition to the existing races in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.
The PUMA Urban Stampede Powered By Flipkart will now feature a 2x10k Open Challenge as well as an individual 5k competition in addition to the 4X5k Corporate Relay.
At a Running Boot Camp Panel featuring top names from the corporate world Rajiv Mehta – MD, PUMA India, Pankaj Rai -Director, DELL Analytics, Arvind Bharathi – Head, Runners for Life and Nari Narayanan – Financial Controller of Sequoia Capital and PUMA Sports Scientist Shayamal Vallabhjee spoke about their experience with running and the impact it has had on them. They also spoke about balancing work life and their commitment to running and how it’s become a part of them. The panel discussion was moderated by Arvind Krishnan – Founder of Runners for Life , and was followed by a mock relay-run with the Corporate heads giving their all to see their companies win.
Highlights of PUMA Urban Stampede Powered by Flipkart 2014-15 Season:
- New Season format to include the Open 5k, a 2x10km Open Challenge and the 4x5km Corporate Relay
- Grand Prize for National Corporate Relay Winners at the Mumbai Finale in March 2015 – winners to be flown to South Africa to participate in the Safari Half-Marathon
- Race dates announced for Pune – June 1st, Chandigarh – July 6th, Bangalore – August 3rd, Chennai – September 7th, Hyderabad – November 2nd, Kolkata – December 7th, Delhi – February 1st 2015 and Mumbai March 1st 2015
- The Top 10 finishers in the Corporate Relay in every city will be invited to participate in the Grand Finale in Mumbai – where the National Corporate Relay Winners will be decided
