Started in 2010, Hyderabad Children’s Theatre Festival, the brainchild of Vaishali Bisht, co-founded by Priyankaa Vir & Deepthi Pendurty, aims at bringing to our city internationally acclaimed troupes that specialize in theatre for children and young adults with world class production values that have been applauded by critics and audiences alike.

Over the three years since its inception, the Hyderabad Children’s Theatre Festival has hosted performances by 7 major Indian troupes and addressed over 30,000 children and adults in Hyderabad. In the three years of the festival, we featured the much-acclaimed ‘Laal Pencil’ by Aranya Theatre, ‘Mahadevbhai’ by Working Title and ‘Suar Chala Space Ko’ by Gillo.

The festival has also witnessed two premiers – ‘The Jungle Book’ by Vaishali Bisht Theatre Workshop and ‘Monkey Business’ by Theatre Nisha, which was a first time ever collaboration with Karadi Tales.

The festival has also seen the likes of Akvarious Productions with ‘A Special Bond’ and Rafiki Warafiki’s ‘The Fabulous Adventures of Aditi & Friends’

With a format that reaches out to maximum children of our city, each troupe performs twice in a day – first at the morning school shows which are enthusiastically supported by the city’s academic community and then at the evening shows which have been drawing more and more families every year.

This year, the festival will host 2 groups from Mumbai and 1 from New Delhi.
